Facilities Safety Coordinator
Century Group Lands Corporation is now seeking a Facilities Safety Coordinator to join our Facilities Team in Tsawwassen.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager the key role of the Facilities Safety Coordinator is to provide the highest level of safety to guests, occupants and employees of Century Group properties. This position will be responsible for performing a wide variety of safety, fire prevention and risk compliance activities related to the physical properties and owners assets within Century Group. Focus will range from property inspections, life safety / fire alarm drills, emergency plan reviews and training, fire drill coordination, site level training, scheduling all fire system contract work and overseeing deficiencies. Partnerships with Century Group Corporate entities will play a prominent role in the further success of this position.
Ensure federal, provincial and municipal code compliance for all Century Group properties with particular attention to safety and fire prevention.
Responsible for overseeing annual fire and sprinkler inspections for all Century Group properties and resolve any noted deficiencies
Create and execute operating budgets for fire safety and compliance accounts
Collaboration with Century Group entities to ensure individual properties are completing mandatory inspections, drills and audits
Chair Corporate JOHS Committee and participate in site specific JOHS committees
Creates and leads the preventative safety programs for all Century Group properties
Corporate JOHS Committee Member
Oversees all fire & life safety contracts, inspections and repairs at Century Group sites
Ensure annual fire alarm drills are performed and recorded at site level for compliance requirements to ensure life safety standards are maintained
Create, review and maintain specific site plan requirements (Emergency plans, disaster plans and fire evacuation plans)
Ensure recognized regulatory deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner to mitigate risk, preserve life, property and other tangible assets
Preforms follow-up activities to ensure action items identified in relevant reports are properly corrected or addressed in a timely manner and once implemented are effective
Conduct regular inspections on all Century Group properties identifying potential safety issues or areas on non compliance
Ensure monthly compliance for emergency generator, fire pumps, emergency light packs, eyewash stations, fire extinguisher checks are being performed for each property where applicable
Monthly panic button testing per property (as applicable)
Assist with Century Groups fleet maintenance program as required
Ensure regulatory permits are posted as required (elevating devices, pressure vessels, boiler plant permits, electrical permits etc.)
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
3 years or more experience in the safety or fire prevention industry or equivalent combination of related education and experience
Post-secondary diploma in relevant field of study considered an asset but not required
Property management experience required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical skill requirements
Federal, provincial and municipal fire and life safety code knowledge
Knowledge of the concepts, theories, and practices of occupational health and safety management, with emphasis on safe working conditions, environmental protection (including hazardous waste and asbestos management), fire management, and all other related aspects
Knowledge of industry-related techniques, technology and trends
Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations related to occupational health and safety
Understands provincial building and fire code
Expert communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders and authorities in the context of a critical incident or traumatic event, as well as investigations
Clear understanding of a budget process
Excellent computer skills (Google suite - g/doc, g/sheets)
