The Ridge is one of Nanaimo’s most liveable neighbourhoods, set in the desirable Hammond Bay area at the top of Glen Oaks Drive in North Nanaimo. Designed with a strong focus on landscape preservation and community character, Phase 1 introduced a mix of 46 mountainside lots and 34 townhomes. This approach offered a thoughtful alternative to conventional suburban development by prioritising natural features, efficient land use and a connected sense of place.

The master plan spans 64 acres and protects the site’s existing coastal hillside environment. Roads and hard surfaces were deliberately minimized to conserve green space and maintain views, resulting in a neighbourhood that feels grounded in the land rather than built over it. Homes throughout the community are durable, energy efficient and designed with clean, contemporary lines suited to modern West Coast living.

The Ridge is shaped around walkability and safe, calm streets. Narrower roadways, parking pods and tree lined sidewalks create a quieter residential setting and encourage residents to move through the area on foot. The community borders nearly 400 acres of forested parkland and walking trails, giving residents immediate access to natural spaces while still being close to schools, services and the wider North Nanaimo community.
