$10,000 Donation to Surrey Food Bank

The Surrey Food Bank held their only fundraising event of the year on the morning of Friday, May 12, 2017 called "Breakfast with the Bank", held at the Bombay Banquet Hall. There were 600 + attendees, which included Sean Hodgins, President of Century Group, a few members of Century Group's Community Engagement Committee, and some invited guests that were willing to donate to this amazing organization.
Sean graciously presented Century Group's donation of $10,000.00. We also sponsored a table, and Robin Johnson-Yee, Director, Real Estate Marketing & Sales, was our table captain. Through many emails and calls she was able round up another $5,860 in donations, for a total of $15,860.00
Food Bank Stats:
- They assist over 14,000 people each month in the Surrey community, through three distribution centres
- 41% of their clients are children and babies
- In 2016, they provided over 54,838 hampers to families living in Surrey and North Delta
- In addition, they also provide food support for a number of recovery houses, safe houses, shelters, youth centres, soup kitchens and specialty food banks.
The Surrey Food Bank is one of three organizations Century Group has chosen to support in 2017. Century Group employees also participate in the Seniors' Distribution Program that involves dedicating part of their work hours on a regular basis to interacting and helping out at the front lines at the Food Bank.
