Bee Place: Our Apiary at Southlands Tsawwassen
Tucked within Southlands Tsawwassen is Bee Place, an interim apiary and pollinator project located on a future development area. It is a working example of how small, practical initiatives can strengthen biodiversity and deepen community connection to food and farming.
Bee Place is home to multiple honeybee colonies, supported by an experienced resident beekeeper. The result is more than honey. It is a visible, hands-on commitment to pollinator health and habitat across the neighbourhood and beyond.

What supports the bees here
Bee Place benefits from thoughtful planting and seasonal planning across Southlands Tsawwassen, including:
- Road verges are planted with significantly more pollinator-friendly plants, including clover
- Clover and native plants are supported across fields and interim undeveloped areas
- A pollinator-focused bloom approach in landscaped gardens so food sources are available through the growing season
This approach supports honeybees and other pollinators, such as native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Where the honey shows up
Small-batch Southlands Tsawwassen Honey is available through select community touchpoints, including our Southlands Tsawwassen seasonal Farmers Market sales and local food partners. It is also part of the Bee Well Project with Bria Communities, supporting a unique educational partnership that connects seniors with pollinator stewardship.
