Century Group’s Northgate Project Completing this Winter
Travelling down 56 Street in Tsawwassen, you can’t help but notice the active construction site and numerous buildings rising at the corner of 18 Avenue. This is Northgate, Century Group’s latest mixed-use, transit-oriented development at the gateway to Tsawwassen.
Designed by local architects Dandyk + Wollin, with construction by local builder Unitech, Northgate will create a new neighbourhood centre that provides convenient and walkable retail, services and amenities to the local community and transit users.
Standing tall on the corner is The Offices at Northgate, which will be home to professional offices, retail shops, services, and a café for residents and the adjacent community. To date, all concrete work on the building is done (no more concrete trucks!), and the site team is now working on the roof and installation of the exterior glass and stone façade to enclose the structure.
Beside the offices stands The Wexford, a 4-storey building that will be Century Group’s newest Bria seniors’ independent living community with 65 premium rental suites. Exterior finishes for this building are currently being installed, and you can see the contemporary style it brings to the project with its West Coast Modern architecture.
A presentation centre for The Wexford will open to the public on Tuesday, October 20, located inside sister property The Waterford (1345 56 Street) in Tsawwassen.
Tucked behind the offices and seniors’ buildings are the CityHomes at Northgate, a collection of 41 brownstone-style townhomes divided into three residential Blocks for added privacy.
All three components of Northgate will have access to ample underground parking.
To maximize connectivity and community, a landscaped central courtyard will provide an engaging space to interact or find a quiet spot to enjoy some fresh air. Landscaping work for the courtyard has begun and will feature tranquil walkways and seating areas, a children’s play area, and a dramatic water fountain with basalt columns.
A number of upgrades are also being made to the surrounding area of this new community. 55a Street has been repaved and new curbing installed, while a unique street treatment with ‘parking pockets’ and landscaping enhances the safety and curb appeal of the street. A new sidewalk will be placed in front of Northgate along 56 Street in the coming months.
Northgate will offer urban convenience and village charm; a place to live and work in the community, with a strong emphasis on walkability in a safe and accessible environment. We look forward to welcoming our new residents, tenants, and the general public to this lively new neighbourhood this winter.
