Langley Mayor Unveils LEED Certification at Sunridge Gardens

The Canada Green Building Council recently awarded our Sunridge Gardens seniors’ community LEED Gold certification for New Construction. On Tuesday, 3 December 2013, Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese formally unveiled the LEED plaque at Sunridge Gardens along with Century Group’s President, Sean Hodgins.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is an internationally recognized green building certification system that provides third-party verification that a building is designed and built using strategies intended to improve energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources

Sunridge Gardens is both the first and the largest LEED Gold certified seniors community project in the Township of Langley and in British Columbia. It was built to support the Township of Langley’s sustainability commitment to energy efficiency, low carbon impact and environmental standards.

Shannon Saunders, our manager, welcomed members of the local government and the individuals and companies who were involved in creating and building the energy system. After brief speeches by Pamela Murphy, Sean Hodgins and Mayor Jack Froese, guests enjoyed a catered reception with passed hor d'oeuvres, cake and champagne.
