Southlands Opens its Gates to the Public

The gates to the Southlands property will open to the public this Sunday, September 8 as part of a special Bike-In & BBQ public event. This is a unique opportunity to explore the Southlands property, view the preservation and agricultural areas up close, and imagine this innovative neighbourhood of the future.

A number of festivities are planned for this special event including guided tours through the property and Earthwise Farm, hay rides, live bluegrass music by the Scattered Coals, a kids activity centre, local art displays, a by-donation BBQ to support the Boundary Bay Lions, and much more.

The event kicks off with a bike promenade to the Southlands starting from the Cottage Courtyard at Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall. Cyclists are asked to meet at the cottage between 10:00am-12:00 noon, where the Delta Bike Company will be on hand performing complimentary bike safety checks and helping kids to decorate their bikes. At 12:30pm the ride will begin along 56th St., heading towards the Southlands farm gates at 5th Ave and 56th St.

Walkers and joggers are also welcome to participate and can join the bike promenade to Southlands at any point of the journey, or simply meet at the Southlands farm gates at 5th Ave and 56th St. for 1:00pm.

At 1:00pm, the Southlands farm gates will swing open and the festivities will get underway at the Red Barn and around the property until the event wraps up at 4:00pm.

This event is free to attend and open to the public, so invite your family, friends and neighbours for a fun-filled day on the farm. Rain or shine, the event will be on.
